About every 9 seconds someone is experiencing the pain and terror of domestic abuse. Often it is a spouse or partner, but sometimes it is children. Domestic abuse affects LGBT people too, but it may be more difficult to identify because of the different psychosocial dynamics in same-sex relationships. If you are victimized by domestic abuse — not only physical abuse but mental/psychological as well — don’t hesitate to reach out for help. BRAVO is an Ohio organization focused on helping LGBT victims of domestic abuse. The Artemis Center in Dayton, Ohio, also is a valuable resource. You are not alone! Don’t be afraid to reach out for help.
